United Way Leaders:

In June, more than 100 volunteer and professional leaders from 42 countries and territories converged in Vancouver for the first ever United Way Global Summit. I’d like to thank Larry Walton, Baltimore; Scott Badesch, Palm Beach; Mike Brennan, Detroit; and Dr. Johnnetta Cole, UWA Board of Trustees, for representing the U.S. movement. Their perspective and “big picture” counsel were invaluable.

During three days, we considered our collective future, and participants responded with tremendous enthusiasm for the opportunities ahead.
  • To strengthen organizational effectiveness and community impact, more than 80% of units committed to re-visit and leverage the Global Standards as a strategic guide or transformative resource to drive success.
  • To strengthen our global network, more than 90% committed to being early adopters, fast followers or major advocates of the global initiative.
  • To strengthen our shared brand, reputation and investor experience, 100% rallied around a set of innovative and binding principles because “We Believe” we can and we should make an impact in the world.
I hope you’ll take a few minutes to view highlights of our Global Summit. As always, thank you for all you do to advance the common good.
